Corstorphine Old Parish Church is a building of national interest and historic importance. It has existed for over five and a half centuries.
We are developing a comprehensive metric record of the church both as a record of the current building and to allow the creation of digital re-constructions of the various phases of the building throughout its history. The accurate 3D model will be used in still visualisations, animations and real-time VR experiences allowing users to experience the building at key times in its historical past.
The church was laser scanned both internally and externally and comprehensively photographed. A point cloud was generated from the laser scans and imagery. Various different 3D models have been developed from the point cloud.
The gravestones in the cemetery surrounding the church have been recorded in a geographic information system (GIS).
